ANZA 2 s Match Report
So yesterday [Sunday - Ed] saw top of the table SIA take on an undefeated ANZA 2 s at Turf City. Corbon was our skipper for this game due to Hammer slumming it in Vietnam and Fordy stuck in KL. He lost the toss and the opposition decided to have a bat.
Our bowling attack looked very thin due to a lot of folks traveling but we had great faith in Clive and Adam Seabright to open the bowling. It wasn t long before we were amongst the wickets though with some assistance from the pitch. Within a few overs we had SIA at 7 for 2, and then 31 for 3.
We then decided that we felt sorry for the batsmen and proceeded to put on a wide bowling exhibition! Special mention goes to Venkat who bowled 14 wides followed by young Mr Seabright with another 8. In total wides top scored for SIA with 42 runs!!!!!!
Despite his wides Adam finished with 2/26 from 6. Corbon picked up 3/22 from 8 and Westy 2/26 from his 8. Clive finished them off in the 37th to finish with 2 wickets for 33. SIA were all out for 144. A shoo-in you would have thought
Corbon and Matt opened the batting. Corbon fell in the second over chasing a widish ball through to the keeper. I then headed out to partner Matt and witness 2 of the dodgiest umpiring decisions I have seen! Matt was adjudged LBW off a very thick inside edge in the 7th over. I thought he was going to club the Umpire as he made his way back to the comforts of our modern club house.
Juzzy then came to the crease and edged a ball behind that had the keeper move at least 1.5 metres to his right to take the catch. The umpire adjudged him not out! This time it was SIA s turn to berate the umpire. Juzzy hung around for another 3 overs before he nicked one behind and this time was given out. We were now 35/3 in the 10th over.
That brings Phil Davies to the crease. We put on 20 in the next 4 before I holed out to a pie lobber in the 13th over. Phil went on to make a great 46 from 33 balls which included 4 6 s. Special mention goes to Corbon, Westy, Juzzy, Nigel, Adam and Clive for failing to make more than one of Phil s 6 s!
[Ed - that should read 'as much as' 102011<6]
We were bowled out in the 30th over for 122. Rather disgraceful really! Given the bowling and batting, I look forward to seeing everyone at training on Thursday night .
[Ed - loss by 22. Wides score 42-20. =22. Oops.]
