 Match Report ANZA1 v SCC Lions (10/08/08)
ANZA1 v SCC Lions at SCC, Sunday 10 August 08

Scorecard

With what looked to be a juicy deck in the offering there was no hesitation from Kev after winning the toss to have a bowl. Early use of the pill particularly from Tim (2/16 off 7 with 3 maidens) showed that with decent L&L we where a chance in what looked to be a weather affected day. Unfortunately that s where our good performance in the field finished with numerous chances going down (Dave where are my gloves Jacquier dropping a pie) with one particular opposition batsmen receiving 3 chances on his way to 63. The rain belted down in the 31st over (they being 4/143) and with us having to bowl 39 it was a matter of trying to contain damage. With a slippery ball and soft run ups coupled with some errant direction we made it hard for ourselves as SCC moved to finish at 7/214.

With potentially one of our better batting line ups for the season we were hopeful of having a crack at this one.
Facing a decent opening attack Ben looked solid and with Dave s exit with the score 26 there was no reason to think we couldn t real in the target. 2 very important wickets fell soon after.... Renato failing to get enough bat on his LBW shout for the guys at Turf City to hear, fell in what is a regular ANZACC curse .. Ben fell shortly after chasing a wide one after doing ALL the hard work and it was left to Gav to impress the girlfriend, Kev the rest of the team and a host of very eager Korean tourists. This he did with what can only be known as the Phill Davies DAB and a series of drives and some good running (46 off 69). Rags looked great till he ran himself out.. Kev fell cheaply to the Curse .. Gerard looking for a run that was at best ambitious... Kenny forward defending a push to deep mid off after a quick fire 19 off 7 and again we leave it for the bottom order. Too little too late and we bring our 4 in a row trot to an abrupt halt... Tuff game this week against the top opposition and we are up against it. Need more in the batting department to get the streak going again.
