Domestic League
Report (Weekend of 23-24th June, 2007) |
|
The weekend that was
- David Jacquire
Sensational weekend for ANZA CC last weekend with 3 wins in league matches...
The seconds open the account:
The seconds cracking it for a win with Matt Ford (37) leading the way with the bat whilst Phil Mac and Josh battled out lower down to give the bowling a fighting chance...
Chances not needed apparently with no extra's BOX 1/14 chiming in for some super numbers, helped by some other great bowling performances from Phil Mac 1/24 bowling at the death, Gary Hawker 3/19, Corbon 2/26, Dhruv 1/20.. Some great fielding coming to the party and the pressure showed..
Another highlight Satyam got a duck!!!! Good work Gents..
The THIRDS nail-biting win and again the ageless Gary Hawker amongst the action..
The 3rds had a real gusty win, by 1 run!! We batted first after having been put in. After a 55 run opening stand between Scooter and Gary, we only made 146. Scooter got 43, as did Phil Davies who was involved in taking 29 off one over (including 4 sixes and 1 four). We managed to collapse at the end losing 4 wickets in 5 balls with the non-wicket taking ball being a wide. We then proceeded to bowl Wanderers out for 145. We had them 8/112 before they recovered to get to 8/145 with 3 overs to go. They needed 2 to win with 3 overs and 2 wickets. Gary bowled the 33rd over and picked up both wickets during the over without conceding any run. Huge effort and cracking result nice to win a close one..
4 XI
Batting on the huge expanse of GIIS C. rattled up 223 with Will Enos getting 85 and Nigel Peck just missing a 50 on his league debut with 42.
all the top order got double figures.
In the field Dave Goodwin got a 4 for 47 but the highlight was the match winning spell of 2 for 12 in 5 overs by Ian Gibb. All the bowlers got wicket/s so an excellent all round performance.
Win the next one and we could make it through to the 2nd round. We would have definitely made it by now but for the rained off game last weekend.
Great news guys and a good round..
Dave "the Happy President.."
