Anza Wins Shield at British Club 6's
British Club 6’s match report

Everyone was anticipating the carnage that was expected from Anza given that only a week ago big Craig and the Anza guys hit magnificent 213 off 25 overs against the British club during a Dreamers match, Craig Alderson hitting a quick fire 67 off only 30 odd balls with two of the biggest 6s onto Dunearn Rd

1st Game AnzaCC versus British Club 1

Batting first we were off to a flyer both big Craig Alderson and Jye Hearps doing a great job to set a big total for Anza. However the big mans onslaught came to a halt getting out after hitting a great 14 off only 4 balls. Yours truly came to steady the ship and keep the runs ticking over till we reach a respectable 73 off the allotted 30 balls.

The Britsh club were also off to a flyer with some questionable field placements, low full tossers and wayward bowling. With a quick few wickers and some exceptional fielding we managed to peg the opposition back to 54 eventually winning our first game.

2nd game AnzaCC versus Bojangles

With the winner of this game going into the cup final, the pressure was on from the get go. Fielding first we were bowling well, giving very little away off the bat. Bojangles big hitter came to the crease and we were anticipating runs to be scored very quickly, however as they say, S&^@# gets wickets and Spainy bowled a beautiful and well flighted full toss that was not expected and Greg Joiner relishing the catch at Long on. With the big wicket gone the rest crumbled at only managed a 67 after w few loose deliveries in the end

What seemed to be a gettable total to obtain turned into impossibility after the first three of our big guns fell for the score at 15. Both Greg Joiner and Big Craig beautifully hit the ball but managed to pick out the only fielder with in 30m. Adam Seabright found another way to get out by turning blindly to a second run and calling it, after some hesitation was caught well outside the crease by a direct hit. Both Spainy and Gavin Hitzeroth tried to put us back on track, however in true 6’s style Bojangles bowled very well to keep our total below theirs to win the match by 12.

3rd Game AnzaCC versus Cargill CC - Plate Final

Unfortunately we did not make the Cup final but we were ready to redeem ourselves in the Plate final against little known Cargill CC. We Fielded first and with great bowling by Gavin Hitzeroth, CraigAlderson and marvellous keeping by Sid Jain the wickets tumbled. Goiod tight bowling in the end by Spainy the opposition only made 36 one of the lowest totals of the day.

Our batsman lead by Craig and Gavin made amends for the loss in the second game. Earlier Criag had negotiated with the opposition captain to allow our batsmen the full 5 overs to face. Great sportsmanship prevailed and they agreed. The captain forced both to retire for 19 off 5 balls and 43 off 16 balls respectively to allow others in the team to get some time in the middle. We passed their score before the 2nd over finished and after Gavin hit 3 glorious sixes in a row. In came Jye Hearps and Sid Jain to finish off the Cargill bowling attack and we managed to pass the 100 mark with balls to spare eventually making 106 the highest score that day.

Congratulations to the British Club for holding a very successful day enjoyed by all. Congratulations to the Misfits for eventually winning the title with help from one of our own Peter Alexander. Thanks again to all those who played on the day and responded to the match
