 ANZACC April Report

Guys,

At the end of April ANZA Cricket has an overall record of 4 wins, 3 washouts and 12 losses. April was a significant improvement on March with 3 wins, 3 washouts and 5 losses. Firsts are currently equal 6th in the table, Seconds equal 7th, Thirds 6th and Fourths 12th.

We had another centurion during April with Peter Alexander reaching a high score of the season of 123 for the 2nds in a washed out game. Other significant scores were Dave Jacquier with 61 for the 1sts, Martin Seabright 44 in 3rds and Greg Joiner with 42 in 2nds. However, only two scores over 50 in 11 matches highlights one of our biggest issues. Top order batsmen are not taking the responsibility for setting a target for our bowlers to have a go at!!!!

Bowling and fielding has improved this month, helped significantly by guys getting to games early for some practice. Highlights in the bowling department in April were John Kett's 5/23 against CSC in the 1sts and Mark Christensen's 4/26 against IA 1.

20/21 May sees the BIGGEST WEEKEND ever for ANZA Cricket with all four League teams in action. We will need EVERYONE available over this weekend. The good news is that of the four games, three are away on turf. The schedule for that weekend is:

Saturday May 20
SCC Colts vs ANZA 3 at SCC - 9am start
ANZA 4 vs NTU 2 at Turf City B

Sunday May 21
Kallang Colts 1 vs ANZA 1 at Kallang
SRC 2 vs ANZA 2 at SRC

Sunday 21st May also sees the inaugural Desperate Cricket Widows Do organized by Cathy Halkett. We have also arranged with the SCA for no matches over the weekend of 13-14 May so the ladies can enjoy Mothers' Day all day with their families!

Don't forget to support our generous SPONSORS Harry's (by drinking there and showing your card), SunSense (by applying sunscreen) and Crown (by moving with them, though not out of Singapore if possible).
