 ANZACC March Status

Guys,

At this stage of the season each League team has played two games. Our of 8 games we have won only one and lost 7! We have had three narrow losses which could have been quite different results had we taken the initiative at the crucial time.

I have been pretty happy with the batting with 2nds/3rds/4ths passing 200 3 times and 1sts passing 300 in our only win. We have two centurions to date (Kev Robertson 121* and Todd Burgess 104 last week in 3rds). However, there have been too many 'soft' dismissals by batsman and we have lost half of our games batting first and not making enough runs. The top order has to take responsibility for giving our bowlers a target!

On the other hand our bowling and fielding this year has been the weak part of our game. This is unusual for ANZA. Bowlers have to focus on bowling to a plan - wides are not acceptable. If you are having trouble landing them in the right positions then get to training or down to a social game to tighten up! Our catching has also been average - we must at least have some reasonable catching practice before we go out into the field. Standing around tossing the ball to each other does NOT get you ready to take the first chance of the game.

With the depth of talent at the Club I know this will be one of our most successful seasons ever. The goal for every team is to make it into the finals - this means finishing in the top FOUR in each League. With 11 League matches this month, let's use April to consolidate our position in the top half of the League tables.

This weekend 3rds take on MUCC 2 at Turf City on Saturday. On Sunday 2nds battle with Deutsche Bank while 1sts are up against Chaminda and Satyam at CSC.
